Frequently Asked Questions.

Why use a celebrant - why not use a registrar?

Firstly, using a celebrant means you can have the celebration anywhere as it doesn't have to be a licensed venue…. In your garden, local pub or up the top of a mountain! It can also take place in any licensed venue, stately home, castle or palace.

Secondly, there are no restrictions on the content to the ceremony. That means that it can be completely personal to you, involve family and friends or even the pet snake if you would like!

You can also incorporate religious or spiritual content or rituals if you would like!

Why do I need anyone, my friend Fred said he would do it?

Well, your friend Fred may be able to – but this is what we do, so we have expertise, contacts, ideas, processes, experience and resources that Fred may not have. Would you trust your friend Fred to fix your car/arrange your heart operation – he could do it (youTube is wonderful) – but why not relax and let the professionals do the ‘work’.

Times are ‘tight’ – can I afford it?

It’s odd how people are happy to spend thousands on cake, flowers, outfits – but the bit that creates the actual ‘occasion’ itself seems expensive. Without the actual ‘ceremony’ itself being a fantastic experience for you and your guests, does it make sense to skimp on the key aspect of the occasion…?

What happens if my budget doesn’t meet my imagination?

Talk to us - all sort of things are possible…!

Is it complicated to work with them - Terms and Conditions?

It’s easy to deal with us - at the point of hiring me (and securing the date with a deposit), we agree a work and payment schedule based on how much time you want from me - for example, some people want an in-person rehearsal the night before, other’s don’t - I only charge for what you want - or I construct something around the budget you have…! I charge 2 or 3 payments given how long before the event you ‘save the date’ and each payment milestone is non-refundable.

In the event of a cancellation, you don’t make the final payment if the event doesn’t take place. In the event of a postponement, then, assuming I can make the new date, then we continue as we were - if I cannot make the new date, then we operate as if it has been a cancellation.

I do know other celebrants as well who can help in that event.

I issue a contract which we both sign to ensure we are both legally secure.
